Product Introduction:The double-impeller leaching tank is the main piece of equipment for gold mines' full mud cyanidation, CIL carbon leaching, and CIP carbon slurry processes. It's mainly used in the gold extraction stages, connected in series with several tanks to finish cyanide leaching and activated carbon adsorption.
1. How it works
The motor and reducer spin a hollow shaft that drives both the upper and lower impellers to rotate together. The lower impeller is close to the tank bottom to prevent ore from settling, while the upper one stirs the slurry in the middle, creating a stable circulation inside the tank. Compressed air goes into the tank through the hollow shaft and is broken into tiny bubbles by the impeller, spreading evenly to provide oxygen for the cyanide to dissolve gold. Gold ore, cyanide, oxygen, and activated carbon react fully, releasing gold that sticks to the carbon. The slurry flows on its own thanks to the liquid level difference, allowing continuous, series operation.
2. Main structure
The tank is a vertical cylinder, made of carbon steel and lined with rubber to prevent corrosion. It includes a drive system (motor, reducer), hollow vent shaft, upper and lower double-layer rubber-coated impellers, flow guide tubes, damping plates, an operating platform with guardrails, air inlet pipes, and ore inlet/outlets. Some versions also have carbon separator screens to separate activated carbon. Impellers are usually wear-resistant and coated to reduce damage.
3. Materials it's suitable for (gold ore)
It works well with gold-bearing slurry where over 90% passes 200 mesh, slurry concentration ≤45%, medium specific gravity, low viscosity, and slow settling.
4. Why it's good
Double-layer impellers make for better circulation, preventing material from settling and reducing dead spots.
Low-speed, large-diameter impellers save energy and don't crush activated carbon much, which is important in the carbon slurry process.
Hollow shaft at the bottom creates fine bubbles, higher oxygen use, and stable leaching and adsorption.
The tank liner and impellers are coated with rubber, making them resistant to cyanide and durable.
The slurry flows by gravity thanks to the liquid level difference, so no tank pump is needed, keeping the process simple.
5. Factory setup guide
For flotation concentrate or full mud cyanidation: grind and classify → prepare slurry → several dual-impeller tanks in series for leaching and adsorption → carbon separator screen → gold-carbon desorption and electrolysis.
Compared to regular single-impeller tanks: single impellers stir poorly, sand tends to settle at the bottom, and carbon can easily break. Double-impeller tanks are designed for carbon-impregnated cyanide and are the go-to choice for gold mines using cyanide.
