Product Introduction:The jaw crusher, often called the 'Tiger Mouth,' is the first coarse crusher in the ore processing line, mainly responsible for breaking down large chunks of raw ore.
1. How It Works
The motor drives the eccentric shaft through pulleys, making the jaw plate swing back and forth. When the jaw moves toward the fixed jaw, the ore is crushed by compression, splitting, or bending. As the jaw moves back, the smaller ore falls out of the bottom discharge opening by gravity, while the larger pieces stay in the crusher for further crushing, running continuously in cycles.
2. Main Parts
Frame, eccentric shaft, jaw assembly, fixed jaw plate, high-manganese steel tooth plate (wear part), toggle plate (with overload protection), tie rod spring, pulley, flywheel, discharge adjustment device; the hydraulic version has a hydraulic gap adjustment mechanism for easier control of particle size.
3. Suitable Materials (Important for Gold Mines)
Good for hard and medium-hard ores with compressive strength up to 320MPa, like gold-bearing quartz veins, sulfide gold ore, granite, etc.
It can handle a small amount of muddy ore, but very wet, sticky mud ore can clog the crusher, so it’s not suitable for direct crushing.
The feed can be large, and the output size can be adjusted via the discharge gap.
4. Features
The body is strong and impact-resistant, runs steadily, with low failure rate, perfect for continuous mining work.
Simple design makes jaw plate replacement easy and maintenance cheap.
High crushing force allows feeding big chunks directly, making it the go-to for coarse crushing.
The toggle plate has built-in protection: if unbreakable debris comes in, the toggle plate breaks first to protect the machine.
5. Models
- PE Series: Standard coarse jaw crusher, most common in concentrator plants
- PEX Series: Fine jaw crusher, smaller discharge, used for the second stage of medium crushing
- Compound swing jaw crusher: Popular in small to medium mines, simple structure; simple swing jaw crushers mostly used in large mines
6. Factory Tips
Process flow: Raw ore silo → feeder → jaw crusher (coarse crushing) → belt conveyor → hammer/PL vertical punch crusher (fine crushing) → screening → ball mill
